Workflow template updates & dissociated tasks

Currently, all workflows attached to current tasks are linked to their respective template updates. If users amend the workflows on current tasks, the workflows automatically become dissociated with the workflow templates. This can make sense for short term tasks. However for long term tasks such as accounts preparation tasks, users sometimes need to update the workflows on live tasks. For instance, they may need to either manage internal human resources and affect different users to subtasks. Or some clients could require their accounts much sooner than official deadlines and so workflows need to be amended to reflect such requests. At this stage, this means that if you need to modify the workflow templates for your accounts preparation tasks, by adding/deleting subtasks for example, these new changes will not be taken into account for all the tasks where the workflows have been dissociated. This means too that if users want to have the upgraded version of their workflow templates on their current live tasks, they would have to access all those live tasks manually to apply the new changes. Could this be please changed so all workflow updates apply to dissociated tasks too, or maybe have the option to tell the system which tasks they want updated too? Thank you for your consideration
