Previous Incomplete Task Continuation

In Bright Manager, we often have incomplete tasks from the previous period that overlap with the need to open new-period tasks to ensure workflow continuity. To avoid duplication and preserve workflow progress, we manually update client profiles to create new tasks.

This process leads to two issues:

  1. Previous tasks are flagged as errors, with only a “DELETED” option available.

  2. Notes carry over incorrectly—original notes disappear when a new one is added.

Could the system provide additional task status options, such as a “WAITING” status, instead of just “DELETE”? This would help us manage ongoing tasks more effectively without losing important data or context.

    Hi Olivia,

What you describe also represents an issue for our practice. For instance, if you use the bookkeeping service and its frequency is monthly, they way we go about the incomplete task issue at period end is that, we close the system generated bookkeeping task, and create a manual task for the incomplete on. This way, the system keeps on generating tasks as per their frequency and we keep a record of incomplete tasks. This is not too efficient and time consuming as well. In an ideal world, all tasks should be completed within their system set deadlines. However, in the real world, it does not always work like this!

I can understand that for accounts tasks and confirmation statement tasks for example, or all tasks generated by the system and linked with HMRC/Companies House, BM generates tasks according to their official deadlines. This is indeed the way it should be. Where there is a need to a have an improvement is how the system handles tasks which are incomplete at deadline dates. Or also, when the official deadlines change. It sometimes happen that accounts periods are changed. We had the misfortune of having lost all our progress on an accounts task workflow just because the deadline of the accounts had been changed. BM created a new task with an empty workflow and the old task had the banner 'DELETE' with all its current workflow progress on it.
